Shooting for the skies: Moon Switches by Agile.

With the rise of newer vendors, Agile has jumped into the arena promising a quick turnaround time and a local vendor to many Canadians. With the switch market exploding simultaneously, we have the ability to get a review sample of these switches, and write a more in depth review for ourselves. Again, just as a disclaimer similar to the Wisteria switches, these were sent out for free, yet this is a result of my own opinion.

For some specifications look below: This was on sale at agileshop.co, and will reopen soon.

Full nylon housing

63.5g operating force

PCB mount 5pin

POM stem (long pole)

MX style

Hand lubed from factory

For such a gray switch, I thought that they would be too bland on a board. Yet, when I put them in, the switches really stood out with the light gray stem contrasting the darker housing color. Past the color, the switch itself is very comfortable to use, with a nice spring weight that isn't too abrasive to use. Many newer switches are either too light or too heavy, but Agile seems to have nailed the spring weight. While it is all personal preference, the spring and spring weight that has been used in this switch makes it a nice switch for any beginner looking to get an entrance into the hobby. However, it isn't all roses. The factory lubing is questionable, and there are definitely some switches that shouldn't have made it past QC checks. Of course, this is bound with any switches, particularly new ones as they sort through any issues. Still, I think it would be nice to have these sorted out before they were sent out. The switches that are good, are really solid. The moon switches have that shallow bottom out, but the factory lube that has been set on the rails of the switch make it a really nice experience. If you cherry pick the switches enough, I think that there is minimal reason to ever open these switches up. While the housing is a bit loose, it is nothing that is unfixable with some films, but isn't a big deal. The long pole that is being used in the stem is a regular long pole, with nothing special to note. The only curious interaction that I had with this switch came when using it with a plateless board. Now, understand that this board is quite DIY, and is a plateless hotswap board. I have had no real issues with seating switches even without solder until the moon switches. This has no real effect on the daily usage in a normal board, but I thought that I would report this oddity. Essentially, if you want to use this in a board with no plate, make sure that the switches are seated properly because you will have some wiggling issues.

From @agileshopco.

Overall, this switch is a really nice addition to many people's collection, but for a first time buyer, it might not be the best. Notably, the inconsistency that has been reported by others as well make it a hard recommendation especially if first time builders have to cherry pick through switches. However, it is still a nice switch that sounds quite good in the right board. I still daily drive these switches in my favorite board (F1-8X), so I hope that gives some credibility to the sound and feel that comes out of these switches.
